What You Need To Know About the H1N1 Virus

H1N1, still being called “Swine Flu” by many, is sweeping the nation and the world. We constantly hear about it in the media and many of us know or have heard of someone who has had it. But with so much information out there it can be difficult to understand the virus and what we can do about it. The fear that accompanies “pandemics” and illnesses of this nature seems to perpetuate myths and exaggerations en masse. Simplifying this illness and understanding the basics is the best way to prevent and treat it.

Tyra Loses Weight the Right Way

In a country that is obsessed with weight while maintaining absurdly high levels of obesity, it is good to see someone in the limelight that can embrace their curves but also strive for health. While Tyra looked just fine to the vast majority of people in 2007 when she was shamed with unflattering paparazzi photos, she went on to lose 30 pounds over the past several months.

The problem was, in the past, I thought a gym membership meant I was serious about fitness. I believed that without a gym to claim allegiance to, I was just another fitness failure, doomed to use home workout DVDs for eternity. While there’s nothing wrong with working out at home in front of the television, it just isn’t for me.

The Workout Playlist: What’s Your Line-Up?

For many of us, working out without music is hard. Really hard. Especially if you have grown accustomed to having your favorite jams directly in your ear while you sweat it out at the gym. Those of you whose ipods have died mid-workout know exactly what I mean. If you are really dependant on that noise, you may have even stopped the workout, deciding a workout in silence just simply isn’t worth it.

The Fitness/Confidence Connection

There are very few people in this world that are blessed with the perfect body that requires no maintenance. The rest of us must work for what we have, to maintain it or improve it when we aren’t completely satisfied. The people who choose not to workout often see fitness fanatics or even just regular exercisers as vain or wrapped up in only the physical nature of personal fitness. Those people are missing the point.
