The Workout Playlist: What’s Your Line-Up?

For many of us, working out without music is hard. Really hard. Especially if you have grown accustomed to having your favorite jams directly in your ear while you sweat it out at the gym. Those of you whose ipods have died mid-workout know exactly what I mean. If you are really dependant on that noise, you may have even stopped the workout, deciding a workout in silence just simply isn’t worth it.

Working out with music, particularly your music can change the entire session. Without the tunes you may trudge through the workout, glancing at the clock, wondering how soon you can quit and still be able to say “I worked out today.” The music on your ipod, when put together just right, has the power to take your workout to the next level. Depending on the song, you will find yourself pushing harder, running faster, and lifting heavier just because your music has empowered you. When you are into music and love the way a certain song can change your mood, you can really appreciate how the right music can up the ante in your workouts. Creating the best playlist for your workout can make a huge difference in the quality of your workouts and have you walking out of the gym feeling pumped rather than drained. I’m always surprised to see what’s on people’s workout playlists. Some people look for a particular speed when compiling their songs while others just want to hear their favorite jams. You may reach way back to your middle school days, adding some Motownphilly to run to or some heavier hitting rap when you are lifting. Maybe what you listen to when you workout is nothing like what you would listen to when you are riding in your car, heavy metal anyone? There are literally thousands of possibilities when it comes to what you want in your ear when you are burning off lasts night’s drinks or toning up for your upcoming beach trip. Here are some favorites that you will find on my playlist.
