Good Drinks but Bad For Your Body

The folks over at yahoo.com posted a blog about "Belt Busting Beverages" a while ago, and I thought it would be interesting to revisit this topic. What they found was pretty astonishing. They found that a large portion of Americans were not taking in much food with heavy calorie content, but also found that those same people couldn't manage to lose the weight. The fact of the matter is, even though you may not be eating calorie ladden foods, you still may be comsuming drinks with high caloric and sugar content. According to the FDA, the average American takes in 82 grams of added sugars everyday. That's 20 teaspoons, which contribute an empty 317 calories into an already heavy daily load of food calories. With numbers like those, you might as well sit down in front of a table full of candy bars and have your fill. Everyday you hear someone talking about how they're going to start a new diet. But the fact of the matter is that if we just started out with something as simple as watching our empty calories with sodas and juices, it would really make a large impact on our health. Most people really don't understand exactly what the term "emtpy calories" means. These are foods that have little or no nutritional value, but are high in calories (so don’t be fooled by the name “empty calories). These include things like candy, sodas, chocolate, chips, licorice, donuts, cakes, pastries, white bread … you get the picture right? Empty calories are usually foods or drinks that are very high in calories and fat content. They don't fill you up as quickly as a good solid meal would. Instead, they leave you feeling hungry and wanting more because your hunger still is not quenched by what you've just taken in. Below I have listed the top five calorie heavy drinks on the market.
