Breaking News Three killed, at least 25 hurt in Arkansas tornado outbreak

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Tornadoes ripping through central Arkansas late Friday killed at least three people and injured 25 others, authorities said. Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Renee Preslar said that the hardest-hit areas are Scotland and Shady Grove in Van Buren County and in Cleveland in Conway County. Preslar said the deaths occurred in Scotland, about 60 miles north of Little Rock. Teams were searching for people who may be trapped under a damaged home in Conway County, and three mobile homes were destroyed in neighboring Van Buren County, Preslar said. "There are people possibly trapped there," Preslar said. "In Center Ridge, search and rescue is going on for a possible missing person." Tornadoes were sighted in Culpepper, near Wrightsville and on Interstate 440 near Galloway, according to Arkansas State Police. Trees and power lines were down near Interstate 530 near Wrightsville. There also was a tornado sighting in the Oakland area, said Marion County sheriff's dispatcher Julie Kucala. NBC affiliate KARK reported that a child had been struck by lightning and that there were flash flood warnings in the North Little Rock area. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for central and eastern Arkansas, the Missouri bootheel, extreme southeast Oklahoma and extreme northeast Texas, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported on its website.
