German Pop Star Guilty of Infecting Partners With HIV

Darmstadt, Germany (CNN) -- A German pop star was found guilty Thursday of causing grievous bodily harm and attempted bodily harm for failing to tell sexual partners that she was infected with HIV.

Nadja Benaissa, 28, former singer in the girl band No Angels, was given a two-year suspended sentence.

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) -- Prosecutors continue to investigate a southwest St. Louis area woman they say knowingly spread the HIV virus by selling sex to unknowing men.

The 35-year-old injected his blood into the sleeping woman, who had refused to have a physical relationship for a year after discovering he was carrying the virus that causes Aids. He pricked her twice with a sewing needle laced with his blood, believing the pair would be 'equals' once more. But he was behind bars in New Zealand today awaiting sentencing after admitting infecting another person with a disease.

Obama Ends HIV Travel Ban

Last week President Obama announced he would be lifting the ban on travelers into the United States infected with HIV. This ban, instated 22 years ago, was one based in the fear of the unknown that surrounded the disease at the time. Although Obama signed the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act just a few days ago, it will take about 2 to 3 months for the travel exclusion to be completely lifted.
