Dorothy Height, Civil Rights Activist, Dies

(AP) — Dorothy Height, who as longtime president of the National Council of Negro Women was the leading female voice of the 1960s civil rights movement, has died. She was 98. Height, who continued actively speaking out into her 90s, had been at Howard University Hospital for some time. A hospital official said she died early Tuesday morning.

Actor Nabs Martin Luther King Role

Actor David Oyelowo ('Last King of Scotland') has landed the coveted role of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in Lee Daniels' ('Precious') upcoming film 'Selma.' The film, which co-stars Hugh Jackman as a racist sheriff, tracks the historic 1965 Civil Rights marches from Selma to Montgomery. No word yet on a release date. [Hollywood Reporter]
