Lawyer for Jackson’s doctor says no plea bargain

Lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's doctor at the time of his death, have announced that they are not going to be taking any plea deal on Murray's charges of involuntary manslaughter. It's something of a gambit, since there are multiple witnesses who are claiming that Murray hid evidence before calling the police, which would show he has some guilt over Jackson's death.

A former Detroit city councilwoman was sentenced to more than three years in prison Wednesday for bribery after a federal judge refused to set aside her guilty plea during a stormy court hearing dominated by a dispute over evidence of other payoffs.

Jayson Williams' lawyers want off his case

NYP: Defense lawyers for ex-NBA star Jayson Williams want to withdraw from his New Jersey manslaughter case, saying they recently have been unable to communicate with him, a source familiar with the situation told The Post today. Those lawyers were in Somerset County Court this morning arguing that point. But Williams told Judge Edward Coleman he wants them to continue handling his case given the amount of money he has paid them to date, and the time they have invested in it.
