The Avengers Set To Make Over $600 Million

By no means is $600 million a small feat-- only one Hollywood director has attained this tremendous milestone- James Cameron.

With only two other blockbusters, both by Cameron, to reach this high point in movie history, The Avengers will make number 3.

Earlier today, Marvel Entertainment announced that the superhero A-list will reach $600 million domestically in the box office today.

Along with The Avengers, the two other Cameron flicks that have topped $600 million are 2009's Avatar and 1997's The Titanic.

Today marks day no. 54 for The Avengers, which first opened in theaters on May 4. Since it's opening day, The Avengers has consistently dominated box office sales in becoming the second fastest movie to reach $600 million since Avatar, which only took 47 days to hit the top slot.

At $600 million and change, The Avengers sits in third place on the list of Hollywood's all time domestic winners. The Avengers is also the third-biggest grossing film of all-time worldwide, with an overall haul upwards of $1.44 billion.
