With the best selling album of the year, Kendrick Lamar doesn’t stop there. He takes the lead with most nominees for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

With eight nominations, including Video of the Year, Best Hip Hop, and Best Cinematography, all for his powerful “HUMBLE.” visual. On the list announced Tuesday (July 25) via Instagram Live, VMA veteran Katy Perry follows footsteps behind with five nods, as so does The Weeknd, who’s awaiting to earn his first-ever Moonman.

This year the Video Music Awards are making an epic mark with combining categories; Best Female Video and Male Video into one. Artist of the Year. That award is up for grabs from Artist, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, and Lorde.
