Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Hits 15 Million Downloads

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Nintendo’s recently released mobile game application, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, has garnered a record high of 15 million downloads in less than a week since its launch. The mobile game application has been a significant Nintendo development since Super Mario Run.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a social simulation mobile game application developed and published by Nintendo and was first announced in Australia last October 2017. It was officially released worldwide on November 21, 2017. The mobile game application comes free to play for both iOS and Android devices.

Nintendo’s newly developed mobile game app has gained a widely acclaimed following in just a month. In fact, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp strikes a towering amount of 15 million downloads in just six days upon its release.

The mobile game contains data from Sensor Tower which lets players chat with animals, do chores and activities, and even catch fish. The social simulation game promotes the interaction with different town residents in the game by engaging them through commerce and allows them to customize their own houses and/or living spaces.

Nintendo has received good feedbacks and was positively overwhelmed with the mobile game’s reception and following. In fact, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has doubled the number of downloads of the game development giant’s very own Fire Emblem that was also made for mobile devices.

Though the game has just only about half of the almost 32 million downloads Super Mario Run has achieved, Nintendo and other game enthusiasts are impressed by how Animal Crossing has gained immense following considering it is a new entrant on both App Store and Google Play Store.

Animal Crossing is considered as a new and different experiment by Nintendo. More than that, it has a totally different approach from other games released by the game development leader when it comes to monetization. Currently, the mobile game is ranked 72ndin the App Store based on its revenue.

With that, Animal Crossing earns through allowing its players to purchase leaf tickets. Leaf tickets are the player’s way to craft furniture and eventually gain friends that will make their required game experience or XP a success.

In comparison, Nintendo’s Super Mario Run, though has attracted a lot of downloads of at least 200 million for both iOS and Android devices, has not necessarily gained an equitable revenue. This also has something to do with the game’s in-app purchases.

Withal, Animal Crossing is being loved by many of its players because it is light when it’s being related to a multiplayer game. Nintendo considers the game an achievement as it leveraged with its famed game releases like Super Mario Run.

Though there are still a lot of improvements to make by the game giant, Nintendo is confident that Animal Crossing will spur more in downloads in the days to come. Updates are not yet available, and no announcement about certain upgrades has been released by the game development leader.
